`Dogs Make It 9-0 At Home

FRESNO, Calif. - The 29th-ranked Bulldogs notched another win over a ranked opponent with their 5-2 win over No. 58 San Diego on Sunday at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center.
The Fresno State doubles set the tone for the match by winning a pair of doubles matches to pick an early 1-0 lead.
No. 19 Rikus de Villiers and Remi Boutillier knocked off Dean Jackson and Nils Schive, 8-5. The senior combination of Mirko Zapletal and Taylor Leiby bested the Torero duo of Casey Powers and Thibaut Visy, 8-2.
Tejesvi Veerepalli was the first Bulldog to record a singles victory, as he dispatched Schive, 6-2, 6-3, and gave Fresno State a 2-0 lead.
Junior Siddharth Alapati added another victory to make the lead 3-0.
Boutillier clinched the match for the `Dogs with his 6-2, 6-3 win over Visy.
"It's always nice to be the deciding victory," Boutillier said. "I'm glad our team came out focused and took care of business against a solid San Diego team."
Sophomore David was also victorious for the Bulldogs in singles action.
The win makes the `Dogs a perfect 9-0 at home in 2010.
Fresno State will be in action next against Cal Poly on April 15, as part of Senior Day for Zapletal, Leiby and Veerepalli.
