FRESNO, Calif. - Six Bulldogs took on the 52nd Annual Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., on Friday. Four throwers (Rosario Sanchez, J'Quyra Moncur-Blue, Tim Greene and Justin Cutler) and two distance runners (Frank Sanders and Eric Battles) competed on the first day of the three-day event in Southern California. The rest of the Fresno State track and field team will be heading north for the Sacramento State Mondo Invitational Saturday.
Sanchez scored the best finish among the Bulldogs, winning the event with a throw of 49-7.75 (15.13m). The win is her fourth first-place finish on the year.
Greene led the way for the two men's throwers, picking up a sixth-place finish in the hammer throw. The senior marked a 194-1 (59.16m) on his second throw of the day to finish second in his flight and sixth among the 28 competitors in the event. Cutler competed in the discus, throwing a 154-6 (47.09m).
On the track, Sanders and Battles both ran in the 1,500-meter race. Sanders timed a 3:48.40, nearly tying his season-best mark that leads the conference. He finished fifth in his heat and 10th overall. The 95-person race resulted in a season-best for Battles, who clocked a 3:54.53.
