Ribera Breaks Home Run Record

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State baseball team hit back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the ninth inning sending into extra inning before losing 13-9 to Dallas Baptist. The Bulldogs are 24-19 this season.
The Bulldogs hit five home runs Thursday night highlighted by Jordan Ribera's record breaking home run in the second inning. The national home run leader has hit a home run in his last six games setting the new record for consecutive games with a home run. He has 21 home runs on the season.
Center fielder Brennan Gowens hit a home run in his first two at bats of the night. Kenny Wise and Clay Cederquist led the ninth inning rally with home runs. The Patriots took the first lead of the game 1-0 after scoring a run in the top of the second inning.
The Bulldogs answered with two runs in the bottom of the second inning to take the lead, 2-1. Gowens hit a solo shot over the left field wall to tie the game.
Garrett Weber hit a double off the left field wall and advanced to third base on a wild pitch. Catcher Trent Garrison was hit by pitch and reached first base. Third baseman Kaohu Gaspar walked to load the bases. Sophomore Dusty Robinson recorded his second walk of the game to bring in a run and the `Dogs lead, 2-1.
The Patriots even the score at 2-2 with a solo home run in the third inning. The Bulldogs took back the lead in the third inning with back-to-back home runs from Ribera and Gowens putting the `Dogs up, 4-2.
Garrison continued the third inning with a single up the middle. Garrison moved to second base after designated hitter Kenny Wise walked. Gaspar hit an RBI single to left field increasing the `Dogs lead, 5-2.
Derek Benny earned the start and threw five and third innings. He struck out two batters.
DBU added a run in the fifth inning cutting the Bulldogs lead, 5-3. The Patriots regained the lead 6-5 in the sixth inning after scoring three runs.
In the sixth inning, Robinson led off with a single to right field. Bobby Coyle hit another single to right field moving Robinson to second base. Weber brought in the tying run with a single to right center field.
Dallas Baptist scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning taking the lead, 9-6.
Weber Walked in the bottom of the ninth inning. Wise hit a two-run home run to right field bringing the `Dogs within one run. Cederquist hit his first career home run to tie the game, 9-9.
Patriots rallied for four runs in the top of the 10th inning winning the game, 13-9.
