Game One
Boise State got the only run of the game in the top of the sixth inning when Ashley Collier scored on a hit by Tazz Weatherly. The run was unearned off of Bulldog pitcher Mackenzie Oakes who allowed six hit in 7.0 innings with five strikeouts. The loss drops Oakes to 10-5 on the season.
The `Dogs had three hits in the game, one each by Michelle Moses, Caitlin Stiglich and Lisamarie Coronado.
Aubray Zell got the win in the circle for Boise State to improve to 5-5.
"I thought Boise played a really good game in the first game and their pitcher did a great job," said head coach Margie Wright. "Our hitting was a little lethargic. When we got aggressive we made things easy for them."
Game Two
Boise State got on the board early with a two-run home run by Kathy Cox to center field off of Morgan Melloh.
The `Dogs got one back off of Bronco pitcher Lela Work in the bottom of the inning. Moses reached base on an error and scored on a single to left by Caitlin Stiglich with two outs.
An Andrea Ortega single led off the Bulldog third inning and a two-run home run by Moses to right field put the `Dogs on top 3-2. It was the 12th of the season for Moses to tie her for 10th in a single season. Work left the game with no outs in the third and replaced by Zell.
With two outs in the seventh, Moses moved to the circle and got the final batter out to pick up her first career save.
Melloh improves to 10-8 on the year as she allowed just two runs on two hits in 6.2 innings with nine strikeouts.
Work got the loss for Boise State and she falls to 0-2.
The `Dogs had seven hits in the game, led by Rebecca Walker with two.
"The second game we still struggled a little bit but we found out that other people have to step up," Wright added. "I thought all three of our pitchers did a great job today."
