`Dogs Win on Senior Day

FRESNO, Calif. - In the final game of the 2010 regular season the 27th ranked Fresno State baseball team beat Sacramento State 8-4. The `Dogs finish the regular season 35-23 and 16-8 in Western Athletic Conference play.
The Bulldogs head to the WAC tournament this week and are the No. 1 seed. Fresno State will play its first game on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Mesa, Ariz.
Dusty Robinson, Garrett Weber and Trent Garrison all had a multiple hits in the final game at Beiden Field in 2010. Bobby Coyle and Steve Detwiler both recorded three RBIs on the day.
The Hornets struck first in the third inning scoring two runs taking a 2-0 lead. Sacramento State added two runs in the fourth inning increasing their lead 4-0.
The Bulldogs took advantage of an error and walk to load the bases in the bottom of the fourth inning. Danny Muno walked bringing a run as the `Dogs trail, 4-1.
Derek Benny earned the start on the mound for the Bulldogs. The sophomore struck out two in four innings.
Brennan Gowens gunned a runner down at home from center field to retire the top of the sixth inning.
On senior day, Detwiler jacked a three-run homer over the Toyota sign to tie the game 4-4.
Robinson drove in the go ahead run with a single. Coyle cleared the bases with a double to the gap in right center field increasing the `Dogs lead, 7-4.
Cody Kendall earned his fourth win of the season after striking out two in his three and two-thirds outing.
Coyle hit a sacrifice fly that gave the dogs an insurance run in the seventh inning.
Senior Sean Bonesteele came in to close and took the mound for the final time at Beiden Field. The righty threw one and third innings and earned his second save.
The Bulldogs closed out the season with an 8-4 win over Sacramento State.
