Thompson Advances at NCAA Regional

FRESNO, Calif. - Breeauna Thompson led the Fresno State track and field team at the NCAA West Regional in Austin, Texas, Friday.
Thompson ran a career-best 24.18 in the preliminaries of the 200-meter dash. The freshman defied the rankings, earning the No. 18 spot among the 24 qualifying for the semifinals.
Thompson also competed in the 100 Friday, clocking a 12.14.
Latrisha Jordan advanced to the semifinals of the 400 hurdles with a season-best performance Thursday. In the semifinals Friday, the sophomore timed in 1:01.07 to finish 21st at the Regional.
On the men's side, Tim Greene threw a 195-5 (59.56m) in the hammer throw at the Regional. He finished 18th among the 48 competitors.
Cameron Parker ran in the preliminaries of the 100. Parker, a freshman, timed in at 10.76 in the event.
After a season-best performance Thursday, Kendrick Young ran 53.88 in the semifinals of the 400 hurdles to finish 23rd at the Regional.
Competition resumes Friday. Two Bulldogs, Thompson and Frank Sanders, will race in the semifinals of their respective events Friday to compete for a spot at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore.
