Bulldogs to Take on BYU in NCAA Regional

FRESNO, Calif. - The NCAA announced the 28th-ranked Fresno State men's tennis team will take on No. 34 BYU for the first round of the NCAA Regionals on May 14 at 10 a.m. in Los Angeles on the campus of USC.
This will be the first meeting between the two squads since 2004.
"It's nice to face a team we haven't played recently," Fresno State head coach Jay Udwadia said. "We're excited to go down to Los Angeles and we'll take things one match at a time."
Fresno State is coming off a WAC Championship match appearance and has won five of its last six matches. The Bulldogs feature the No. 23 doubles tandem in the country - Remi Boutillier and Rikus de Villiers.
BYU is 21-9 on the season and also made an appearance in its conference championship match.
Although the teams haven't met since 2004, during the span from 1994-2004, they faced each other eight times. Fresno State owns and 8-1 all-time edge against the Cougars.
Three WAC teams were selected for the field of 64. WAC Champion and 37th-ranked Hawai'i will face No. 21 Pepperdine and No. 42 Boise State will take on No. 29 Florida State.
