Ribera Adds to Home Run Total

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State baseball team lost its final non-conference game against Cal Poly 7-3 Tuesday night. The Bulldogs have an overall record of 26-20.
Garrett Weber went 3-for-4 at the plate, while Jordan Ribera went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Designated hitter Bobby Coyle also tallied two hits in five at-bats. The `Dogs had a total of eight hits.
The Bulldog pitching staff combined for 11 strikeouts against Cal Poly.
A pair of doubles and a single drove in four runs in the first inning as the Mustangs took a 4-0 lead.
A two-run jack from the national home run leader Ribera cut Cal Poly's lead in half to 4-2. Ribera has a total of 22 home runs this season.
The Mustangs added a run in the second and fourth innings increasing their lead, 6-2.
Derek Benny came out of the bullpen in the fifth inning and silenced the Mustang batters with two hitless innings. The sophomore retired another three batters in order that included striking out back-to-back hitters to end the top of the sixth inning.
The Mustangs scored a run in the seventh inning extending their lead, 7-2.
In the eighth inning, the Bulldogs loaded the bases with a walk, a double from Ribera and an error. Pinch hitter Clay Cederquist hit an RBI single giving the `Dogs their third run of the game.
The Bulldogs brought the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the eighth inning, but Cal Poly held on to win the game 7-3.
