Boynton Final Addition to 2010 Roster

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State head soccer coach Brian Zwaschka announced the addition of Tara Boynton to the 2010 roster. Boynton will join the Bulldog offense this season and she will be a threat to opposing teams in the fall.
Boynton is the final addition to the squad for the upcoming season and joins Catherine Sordo, Megan Mossman, Riley Fiedler and Lauren Lindstrom to make the 2010 class.
"We are very pleased that Tara is coming in to compete as a goal scorer for us," said Zwaschka. "She is very strong and athletic, has good sense of the game, and is desperate to score. The best part is she still has tons to learn and is so eager to soak up this teaching and competitive environment. I've no doubt she will take a lot of teams by surprise."
Boynton, a two sport athlete, from Ferndale, Calif. played three years of varsity soccer and basketball at Ferndale High School. She earned Humboldt/Del Norte All-League honors all three years and was named the league MVP her senior year.
"I am so excited to finally be playing competitive soccer with a team that is really committed to the game," Boyton said. "This has been my lifelong dream since I could remember. To be playing for a top Division 1 team is more than I could have asked for."
During her freshman and sophomore campaigns, Boynton was named Miss Offense and earned Humboldt County Player of the Week honors.
Boynton also played club level soccer in northern California with the Mad River Youth Soccer League D1 team. She also played with the District 5 Olympic Development team and currently plays with the Santa Rosa Gold.
Boynton spent time overseas playing soccer in Sweden. She competed in the Gothia Cup in Gothenburg, Sweden and in the Pitea Cup in Pitea, Sweden.
The Bulldogs begin preparations for the 2010 season in early August with the beginning of Camp.
