FRESNO, Calif. - Members of the Fresno State football team were on hand at River Park Wednesday night to meet with Red Wave fans. There were 20 players from this year's team signing autographs, taking pictures and talking with fans about the upcoming season.
Red Wave fans of all ages came out to support the Bulldogs chatting with their favorite Fresno State players.
Sean McFarland, a long time season ticket holder, brought his three boys Ian (7), Ryan (5) and Brendan (2) dressed in Bulldog red to River Park for the night.
"With the weather cooling off today, I thought it would be a fun activity to bring the boys to," said McFarland. "We love football and it is fun for the boys to come out and meet the players. I've been taking Ryan to the games for a couple of years and he tells his brothers all about it, so this year we have the family pack and we will all be going to the games. Ryan's favorite part of the game is the eye ball races and the marching band."
"I love football and when the Bulldogs score!" added Ian.
McFarland and is son, Ryan, have been attending games together for the last three years. McFarland shared that Ryan loves coming to the games and finds a way to stay awake for the whole thing, including the bands performance after the game.
Another fan that was excited to see coach Hill and the Bulldogs was Rosie Cadriel, who received an email about the event through the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
"I've been a Bulldog fan since I married my husband, which was 20 years ago," said Cadriel. "I enjoy football season a lot and naturally I am starting to get know the coach. He attends luncheons and it gives me more of an incentive to attend games. If I can't go to the games then I listen on the radio. It's very exciting and looking forward to this season."
Cadriel spent time talking with each member of the team and collecting their autographs on the schedule card. She got one for herself and one for her 12 year-old grandson, who is also a big Bulldog fan.
"This event is a great chance to be able to meet the players and get their autographs," said Cadriel. "I am going to frame my autograph card, as if I was a little kid."
