FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State head soccer coach Brian Zwaschka announced the promotion of Josh Duffy to full-time assistant coach. Duffy served as the volunteer assistant coach for 2009 season.
"Josh is an excellent addition to the program at this late stage going into our preseason," said Zwaschka. "There is no other coach who can offer a seamless transition to our student athletes like Josh can at this critical point. The players enjoy and respect his coaching and his full time introduction adds the continuity we need to keep building on the positive spring we had as a young group. He is vested in these players and has confidence in the progress and philosophy we as a program and as an athletic department are striving for. We have an opportunity to start strongly and build efficiently even more so with Josh on board in support. I have faith in his abilities and expertise and respect for his professionalism."
Duffy comes to Fresno State from one of the Valley's top youth Clubs, California Odyssey Soccer Club, where he currently serves as a director and coach. His unique experience there includes working with the US Soccer Development Academy team as a direct feeder project to the US National Team program. Duffy also has coaching experience at the collegiate level assisting at Rockhurst University, a top 20 NCAA Division II Soccer Program in Kansas City, MO.
"I am very excited and honored to have the opportunity to join Brian, Kevin, and the rest of the Fresno State Staff on a full-time basis this season," said Duffy. "We have a very talented group and are looking to do some big things this year."
Duffy's responsibilities will be primarily on field helping with both goalkeepers and field players. He will also be active in community relations, on-campus recruiting, scouting, and other program duties.
