2010-2011 Men's Tennis Schedule Announced

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State men's head tennis coach Jay Udwadia released the schedule for the 2010-2011 season. This season, defending WAC champions compete against 12 teams ranked in the Top 75 Final 2009-10 ITA Tennis Rankings.
The Bulldogs finished the 2009-2010 season ranked No. 27 in the final ranking. The `Dogs made it to the 2010 NCAA Men's Tennis Championship where they defeated BYU in the first round and proceeded to battle eventual NCAA champion University of Southern California in the second round.
Fresno State fans have numerous times this season to come out and support their team as they host eight non-conference matches and three conference matches.
The `Dogs will compete against six tennis programs who competed in the 2010 NCAA Men's Tennis Championship, including No. 9 Stanford and No. 18 California. They host against No. 15 Texas Tech in February.
The others team include No. 41 Nebraska, No. 35 Hawai'i, and No. 42 Boise State. To start off the fall season the Bulldogs travel to Las Vegas for the UNLV Invitational on Sept. 17.
The team returns home Oct. 1-3 to host the annual Bulldog Classic held at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center.
Following the Bulldog Classic, the team competes in the qualifying and main ITA All American tournament, as well as the ITA Northwest Regional tournament in Oct. 2010. The `Dogs travel to Los Angeles this winter to compete against Florida State in the National Team Indoors in Jan. 2011.
The team hosts matches against USF (Jan. 23) and Pacific University (Jan. 25). To start off the spring season the No. 27 Bulldogs will compete at the Wathen Tennis Center against the Big 12's Texas Tech on Feb. 4, No. 50 San Diego State on Feb. 6, and LMU on Feb. 11.
The following five weeks Fresno State will be on the road traveling from Palo Alto, where they will be competing against their biggest competition No. 9 Stanford, to Las Vegas challenging Arkansas and UNLV, to San Diego where they will face-off against Cal and compete in the Pacific Coast Doubles Tournament.
At the end of spring season, the `Dogs travel to Moscow, Idaho to face-off against two-time defending WAC champions Hawai'i and the next day Fresno State will play Idaho.
Fresno State hosts its final matches of the season at Wathen Tennis Center against conference teams NMSU, Boise State, and Nevada from April 15-17.
The non-conference dual matches include Arkansas, UNLV, Cal Poly San Louis Obispo, Santa Clara University, Nebraska, and UCSB.
