FRESNO, Calif. - Summer has come to an end for the Fresno State women's soccer team. The Bulldogs began fall camp on Aug. 4 and will showcase what they have been working on at the second annual Red/White Scrimmage on Aug. 10.
"We are looking forward to our first game-like format tomorrow evening," said head coach Brian Zwaschka. "The team is working very hard and are eager to play. This scrimmage is a great evaluation tool for our staff and will help us to continue answering some questions on where we are in our building process and who the most ready and prepared players are going into our first exhibition match this Friday. The Red/White scrimmage will be a vital step concluding our first week of preseason and setting the tone for our first real opponent test at Cal."
The Red/White Scrimmage is the first chance for Bulldog fans to see the 2010 team in action. The game is at 5 p.m. on the practice field located behind Beiden Field.
Last year, the Red/White Scrimmage ended in a 0-0 tie after two 30 minute halves and a 10 minute sudden death period. Goalkeepers Kaitlyn Revel and Chrissy Smith both recorded a save and earned shutouts. The Red squad recorded six shots, while the White squad recorded four shots.
The Bulldogs conclude fall camp on Aug. 13 with an exhibition against Cal on the road at 3 p.m.
"We Are Your Team" Bulldog Soccer opens the 2010 season with the Red/White Scrimmage on Aug. 10 at 5 p.m. on the practice field located behind Beiden Field. Fresno State kicks off the season on the road against Pepperdine on Aug. 20 at 3:00 p.m.
