Dilfer Returns to Bulldog Stadium

FRESNO, Calif. - Bulldog Stadium will be hopping on Saturday night and the place to be to rub elbows with some celebrities.
Several former and current NFL stars and a Hollywood actress are among those attending the game.
The 2010 Fresno State season opening game against two-time defending Big East Champion Cincinnati will begin an exciting home schedule that features seven games. Kickoff for Saturday's game is at 7 p.m. PT and tickets are available by clicking the tickets icon at the top of this page or at the Bulldog Ticket Office at the south entrance of the stadium. The ticket office will be open until 6 p.m. Friday and opens at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
Trent Dilfer, a record-setting Bulldog players and Super Bowl winning quarterback will be at Bulldog Stadium broadcasting the game on ESPN2. Dilfer will be calling the game with veteran sportscaster Beth Mowins. Dilfer began his broadcasting career with the NFL Network and ESPN after a long and distinguished NFL career.
Since retiring from the NFL, where he was a Super Bowl winning quarterback, Dilfer has been working for ESPN as an NFL studio analyst. The Cincinnati game will be his second college football broadcast on the network. Dilfer was a two-time All-WAC quarterback, the 1993 WAC Offensive Player of the Year, and set several NCAA records during his career. He left Fresno State after his junior season and was the No. 6 overall draft by the Tampa Buccaneers. He still ranks fifth on the Fresno State career passing yardage list with 7,631 yards and threw 53 touchdowns. His jersey No. 12 has been retired by Fresno State and hangs under the press box in Bulldog Stadium.
Dilfer and the ESPN crew will spend time with the Bulldog coaches and student-athletes over the next couple of days preparing for the game. During Wednesday's practice session, he spoke briefly with the team after the game. This is the second college game Dilfer has worked and it's a rehearsal of sorts for him as he will be in the booth of the ESPN Monday Night Football broadcast the opening week of the NFL season. After that he will return to the ESPN studio booth in Bristol, Conn., where he was won rave reviews as a studio analyst.
Another former NFL quarterbacking great, Dan Fouts, will also be broadcasting the Fresno State vs. Cincinnati game to a national audience on USA Sports Radio Network. Fouts, a former San Diego Charger and member of the NFL Hall of Fame, will team up with former Northwestern and Colorado coach Gary Barnett in the broadcast.
David Carr, another record-setting Bulldog quarterback, will be in attendance at game along with countless other former Dogs. Carr, the No. 1 overall NFL pick in 2002, is in his first season as a quarterback with the San Francisco 49ers.
Bo Derek and award winning actress is planning to attend the game. Derek is most known for her role in the 1979 blockbuster film "10", a comedy where she played the love interest of Dudley Moore.
