FRESNO, Calif. - The Bulldog football team is still reaping the benefits of last Saturday's win over Cincinnati.
This week the Dogs earned voted in both the USA Today Coaches Poll and the Associated Press poll. Inexplicably, the Dogs received fewer votes than the Bearcats in the coaches' poll, but picked up 24 votes in the AP poll, good for 35th place.
Bulldog defensive lineman Logan Harrell was named the WAC and National Defensive Player of the Week for his four-sack performance in the game. Harrell and the Dogs produced eight sacks in the game and held the Bearcats scoreless in the second half with just 52 total yards.
Some national media agencies picked up on Fresno State's win:
Columnist David Jones from the Harrisburg (Pa.) newspaper talked about the WAC's strength, led by Boise State's and Fresno State's opening weekend wins.
