Patel's Pace
After five tournaments Bhavik Patel has a scoring average of 69.71. Patel is ranked first in the nation for Par 4 Scoring with a 3.90 and second in the nation for birdies with 65. Patel finished up the 2009-10 season with a scoring average of 71.58 which ranks him fourth in Fresno State's top five single season scoring averages. Patel is in pretty good company as PGA Tour star Nick Watney owned the top three Bulldog season scoring averages.
During a team qualifying round Monday Patel's round of 61 tied the all-time course record at Riverbend Golf Club in Madera.
"Bhavik's round may be the lowest Fresno State score in my 30 years of coaching." head coach Mike Watney said. "We were in a team qualifying so there was pressure to score well. Bhavik has that extra ability to string together birdies and not get nervous when he gets under par. He also is very clutch when it comes to the pressure-shot moments. He is fun to watch."
"We Are Your Team" - The men's golf team will host the Fresno State Lexus Classic at Sunnyside Country Club on March 7 and 8. Check gobulldogs.com for more information.
