Alcantara Lives Up To Expectations

MALIBU, Calif. -
The Fresno State men's tennis team is off to a solid start in Malibu, Calif. at the ITA Southwest Regional Championship.
Sophomore Francis Alcantara did not disappoint in Thursday's tournament after defeating Southern California's Jonny Wang in an easy 6-0, 6-3 match to ultimately move on to the Round of 32.
Senior David Ayoun also earned himself a spot in the Round of 32 for Friday's tournament. Ayoun started in the Round of 128 on Thursday and progressed forward after defeating Pacific's Ben Mirkin, 6-3, 6-3. San Diego State's Andranik Khachatryan played a tough game, but was no match for the Bulldog. Ayoun took the win 6-4, 7-6, in the Round of 64.
Junior Zach Leslie and Sophomore Nick Papac played well in the Round of 64, but came up short.
In doubles play the duo team of senior Jean-Charles Diame and freshman Sai Kartik Nakireddi, as well as Ayoun and freshman Reid deLaubenfels did not advance to the round of 32.
However, senior Remi Boutillier and Alcantara will make their highly anticipated appearance in Friday's tournament as a doubles team. Leslie and Papac will also play in the Round of 32 for doubles.
