MALIBU, Calif. -
When a sophomore makes the Finals in a tournament as prestigious as the Southwest Regionals—it's nothing to be taken lightly. Especially when that sophomore makes it all the way to the finals for both singles and doubles play.
Sophomore Francis Alcantara worked his way from Thursday's Round of 64, all the way to the final dance on Monday. In the last battle against Southern California's Ray Sarmiento, the Bulldog was named the runner-up champion for singles in a, 6-4, 6-3 match.
The doubles team consisting of Alcantara and Senior Remi Boutillier also took the runner-up champion title. San Diego's Nikola Bubnic and Thibaut Visy played a solid game against the 'Dogs in a, 8-2 match.
The team looks to continue their streak at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas on Oct. 28 through the 30.
