LAS VEGAS, Nev. -
Sophomore Francis Alcantara continues to impress with each game he plays. After a solid performance in Saturday's Larry Easley Memorial Classic, the sophomore earned himself a slot in the finals bracket for singles play.
Alcantara put up a fight against Auburn's nationally ranked Andreas Mies in the final round, but fell short by a hair in the third set, making the final game score, 5-7, 6-1, 6-4.
The sophomore and teammate senior Jean-Charles Diame also advanced to the Finals after a successful day on Saturday.
The `Dogs competed against Auburn's Stamchev and Cochrane in the Finals for doubles play. After a heated battle, Auburn claimed the win, 9-7.
Now that the fall season has concluded, the `Dogs look to work hard for the next season. The team resumes play on Jan. 21 against San Francisco at the Wathen Tennis Center.
