FRESNO,Calif. -In the last tournament of the season, three of the bracket finals at the 12th annual Bulldog Classic we're filled with Bulldog wins.
One of the wins came from newcomer, freshman Anne Susdorf in Flight B consolation play. The freshman took on Pacific's Gregana Boncheva and claimed the championship title with an, 6-0, 6-3, win.
Junior Olga Kirpicheva was involved with the other two wins. Kirpicheva and senior Laura Pola played in the Semifinals and Finals in Sunday's tournament.
The duo's, 8-4 win against Nevada's Faith Bassiouny and Michelle Okhremchuk pushed them to the Finals. Stanislaus State's Katie Eng and Verena Preikschas couldn't keep up with the `Dogs and were defeated, 8-4, earning Pola and Kirpicheva the Championship title in doubles.
Kirpicheva also earned the championship title in singles play. The junior took an easy, 6-0, 6-4 win against Cal Poly's Kathyrn Webb that advanced her to the final dance of the day. At the evening competition, Kirpicheva didn't let the lengthy tournament get to her. The Bulldog pulled out an, 6-3, 6-3 win against Washington's Gregoire Capucine.
"What a great way to finish our fall season," head coach Simon Thibodeau said. "Olga played with a lot of determination and focus this weekend, she deserves all her wins."
The team will have a break and then resume play at the California Winter Invite in Berkeley, on Jan. 13.
