FRESNO, Calif. -
Fresno State's very own Remi Boutillier will represent Bulldog pride at the prestigious National Indoor Competition in Queens, N.Y on Nov. 3-6. Boutillier is the only player from the WAC represented in singles play and will go head-to-head against the best players in the nation.
The senior earned a spot after making it to the Quarterfinals at the ITA All-American Championships on Oct. 8 in Tulsa, Okla. The Bulldog fell short from moving to the Semifinals after a three-set defeat to Georgia' 6th ranked Wil Spencer.
Coincidently, Boutillier will play Spencer again in the Round of 32 on Thursday at 10:00 a.m.
Boutillier knows this is a tough competition and is ready for a challenging match.
"From our previous match I know that every single point matters," Boutillier said. "I'm going to have to play solid and stay focused until the last point if I want to win."
The women's team also embarks on its final away tournament to Phoenix, Ariz. for the ASU Invitational. Sophomore Marianne Jodoin and junior Melissa McQueen reunite as a doubles team for the competition. Head coach Simon Thibodeau is confident of the pair and believes they will go far in the tournament.
"I'm excited to play Marianne and Melissa again in doubles," Thibodeau said. "They played a good match last year together and are looking forward to this opportunity,"
ASU, CAL, Utah, Northwestern, San Diego, Michigan, Kansas State and Ohio State are the schools participating in the tournament that starts Friday, Nov. 4.
