De Villiers Named WAC Player of Week

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State senior Rikus de Villiers was named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week on Tuesday.
No. 28 Fresno State competed in the ITA National Indoors Sweet 16 this weekend. The Bulldogs took on the No. 27 Florida State Seminoles in the first round and No. 33 Minnesota Gophers in the consolation round.
De Villiers went undefeated in singles at the Sweet 16. He won the only point for the Bulldogs against Florida State, after defeating the No. 37 ranked player, Clint Bowles, 7-5, 6-3.
He also fought his way to victory on court one against the Gopher's Rok Bonin. After dropping the first match, 3-6 he came back and swept the second set and earned the win in the third set, 6-3.
This is the third time de Villiers is named WAC Tennis Player of the week at Fresno State.
