Fresno State Sweeps Pacific

FRESNO, Calif. - The 30th nationally ranked Fresno State men's tennis team sweeps the University of Pacific Tigers 7-0 on Saturday Feb. 12 at the Wathen Tennis Center.
Coming off the victory from yesterday's match against Loyola Marymount, the Dogs energy was high and in full swing. The cheering and momentum from the Red Wave was in full swing as well as the Dogs started their second match of the weekend.
The 21st nationally ranked doubles team, Rikus de Villiers and Remi Boutiliier were back together on court one facing off against Ivan Castro and Alex Golding. The Dogs pulled an early lead on the Tigers and defeated them, 8-2.
The doubles victories kept coming as Nick Papac and Siddharth Alapati started and finished strong against Tomasz Krzyszkowski and Lance Dugan, 8-2. Also back together on court No. 2 Francis Alcantara and Jean-Charles Diame battled back and forth against Pacific's Artem Gramma and Fernando Ristow and earned the final doubles victory, 8-6.
The Bulldogs were just as victorious in singles earning victories on all courts.
Victories were earned early on by Boutillier, Alcantara and Diame advancing their resumes to 4-1 for the 2011 spring season.
Papac was back on court No. 6 today and defeated Pacific's Lance Dugan, 7-5, 7-6 (2).
Senior Bulldog, Alapati challenged the Tigers' Alex Golding to three matches. Earning the first set and dropping the next, Alapati pulled ahead allowing Golding only one game in the third set and earned the sixth point for the Bulldogs.
De Villiers had the match of all time against the Tigers' Castro. Going to a tiebreaker in both sets and battling points back and forth the entire time, de Villiers came back in the tiebreaker and pulled ahead by two earning him the final victory for the Dogs, 7-6 (5), 7-6 (6).
The Bulldogs are now 22-0 all-time against the Tigers. The Fresno State men's tennis team will be on the road for the next month competing against No. 8 Stanford, UNLV, No. 71 Arkansas and No. 18 California
