Positive Production at Husky Classic

FRESNO, Calif. - The Bulldog indoor women's track and field team traveled to Seattle, Wash. for the Husky Classic and produced some improved times and marks in the full day of competition. Breeauna Thompson and Rosario Sanchez both earned third place finishes in their competitions, respectively.
"Overall we had a good day and we had some very positive things happen," said head coach Scott Winsor."Megan McKee threw just over 60 feet in the weight, which is pretty good for a freshman. Marrijtje and Saylah competed well in the mile and I know their training (up to this point) has been going very well. We are pretty pleased as a staff."
On the track, Breaunna Thompson ran a 24.64 in the 200-meter. Her time earned her a third place finish. Two other Dogs finished in the top 20 in the 200-meter. Latrisha Jordan finished 18th with a time of 25.64 and Tiera Hilliard 20th with a time of 25.69.
The 4x400 relay team made up of Breeauna Thompson, Tiera Hilliard, Taylor Jackson and Latrisha Jordan finished 5th is the Husky Classic. The relay team worked together to cross the finish line with a time of 3:48.93.
"The sprinters have been working hard for three weeks," said Coach Winsor. "We have really been pushing them and are pleased with the progress."
Marrijtje Molenhuis led the distance runners in the mile race with a time of 4:58.69. She finished 49th overall among some of the top runners in the country.
Freshman Saylah Barserian finished the mile race in 5:00.99. In her second competition as a Bulldog she improved her time by more than 10 second. Allison Gonzales also had big improvements clocking a 5:21.32 improving her time by more than 18 seconds.
One the field, freshman Megan McKee threw 60-1.75 (18.33m) in the weight throw event. Her score ranks her second in the WAC and 6th overall in the Husky Classic. Rosario Sanchez had another strong performance and earned a third place finish. In the shot put event Sanchez marked a 48-10.75 (14.9m).
Freshman Taylor Jackson performed well in the triple jump. She finished 16th overall with a mark of 37-1.00 (11.3m).
