BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Fresno State men's basketball team takes a break from the rigors of the WAC schedule for a couple local non-league contests this week. The Bulldogs head down Highway 99 for a rematch with Cal State Bakersfield on Wednesday and then wrap-up the week with a home game against UC Riverside in the annual ESPN BracketBusters game. A large crowd is expected in Bakersfield for the Bulldogs vs. Roadrunners contest. CSUB upset the Dogs in 2007 in the last trip to Rabobank Arena.

About Cal State Bakersfield
The Roadrunners are 9-14 overall and play as Division I Independants. The have some solid wins this season, including an 82-77 home win over San Jose State. Of late, CSUB has just one win in the last eight games, a 77-75 win over Cal State Fullerton on Jan. 25. Stephon Carter is one of three Roadrunners averaging more than 14 points per game. Carter, who averages 16 per game, also leads the team with 65 assists. Alex Johnson leads the squad with 65 three point field goals and his shooting 40% from three. The Roadrunners have not played since losing to the Dogs 79-49 on Feb. 7 at the Save Mart Center.
Against Cal State Bakersfield
All separated by less than 100 miles, these two California State sister schools have played just nine times previously. The series began in 1923 and the Dogs lead the series 5-4 The Bulldogs have won three games including last season at the Save Mart Center 79-68 and nine days ago in Fresno.
Paul George Night Saturday, Great Ticket Deals on Tap
NBA rookie Paul George will return to the Save Mart Center Saturday night when the Bulldogs host UC Riverside in the BrackerBusters game at 7 p.m. Because of the NBA All-Star break, George will be in Fresno this weekend and rejoin his former teammates and coaching staff. George is rookie with the Indiana Pacers and was the No. 10 overall pick of the 2010 NBA Draft. Tickets for Saturday's game are $10 plus and fans can bring one child for free. Additional children's tickets are just $5 each with each adult ticket.
Getting Out of the WAC
The Bulldogs are 6-6 in non-conference games this season but have won five of their last six non-league games. The last two wins, over Seattle University and Cal State Bakersfield, have been by a combined 60 points but both of those games were played in the friendly confines of the Save Mart Center. The Dogs are 1-4 in non-WAC road games with losses at BYU, Colorado State, Utah and UC Santa Barbara. Fresno State's lone road win was at San Diego on Dec. 7.
