Women's Track Off To Indoor Championships

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's indoor track and field team heads to Nampa, Idaho for the 2011 WAC Indoor Championships, beginning Thursday, February 24 at the Jackson Indoor Track.

WAC CHAMPIONSHIP RETURNS TO BOISE
The 2011 edition of the WAC Indoor Track and Field Championship returns to Idaho Sports Center and Jacksons Track in Nampa, Idaho, for the eighth-straight year. The meet will be held Feb. 24-26.
RECAP OF HUSKY CLASSIC
The Bulldogs were productive as they competed in the Husky Classic and UW Indoor in Seattle, Wash. Feb. 19. On the track, sophomore Breeauna Thompson won the 400-meter event, with a time of 55.79. The 4X400m relay team of Thompson, Tiera Hilliard, Taylor Jackson and Latrisha Jordan finished fifth with a time of 3:48.93. Freshman Megan McKee had a toss of 60 ft., 1.75 in. (18.33m) in the weight throw event, claiming sixth place and Rosario Sanchez had another strong performance, earning third place in the shot put with a throw of 48-10.75 (14.9m).
SANCHEZ EARNS THIRD AT NM INVITE
The Fresno State indoor woman's track and field team began the season at the University of New Mexico Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. The Bulldogs were led by Rosario Sanchez, who finished third in the shot put with a distance of 15.24 meters. In the 60-meter hurdles, freshman Erin Morris finished sixth with a time of 8.71 and the team of Breeauna Thompson, Tiera Hilliard, Taylor Jackson and Latrisha Jordan finished fourth in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:53.36. Taylor Jackson finished eighth in the triple jump with a distance of 11.80 meters and in the mile run, Saylah Barserian finished ninth with a time of 5:11.21.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Fresno State Bulldogs open the outdoor track and field season when both the men and women compete in the Cal Quad in Berkeley, Calif. on March 5. Also on March 5, the UW Indoor Final Qualifier takes place in Seattle, Wash.
