NAMPA, Idaho - The Fresno State women's track and field team opened the 2011 Indoor WAC Championships with the pentathlon on Thursday, at the Jacksons Track in Nampa, Idaho. The pentathlon was the only women's event scheduled for Thursday.
Fresno State's Sarah Una'Dia finished eighth in the high jump, 13th in the shot put, eighth in the 800-meter, 14th in the 60-meter hurdles and 13th in the long jump. Fresno State didn't score any overall points for the championships on Thursday.
The first day of competition consisted of the women's pentathlon and the men's heptathlon. On the women's side, Boise State's Alexi Morton claimed her first ever gold medal, scoring a school-record 3,769 points en route to the title. Utah State's freshman Chari Hawkins finished in a close second with 3,719 points, followed by New Mexico State's Zoe Meade, who claimed third place with 3,560 points.
Tomorrow's championship events continue as the field events begin at 1:30 p.m., followed by the running events at 4:00 p.m.
