Bulldogs Break Into Top 10

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State baseball team continues to win games and climb the national polls. The Bulldogs broke into the Top 10 of Baseball America's Top 25 poll. The Dogs moved up seven spots to No. 10 and it is the highest regular season ranking under head coach Mike Batesole.
Currently, Fresno State is ranked in all four major baseball polls. Collegiate Baseball has the Dogs at No. 20. The Bulldogs moved up two spots to No. 17 in the USA Today Coaches poll. The fourth poll the Bulldogs are ranked in is the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association at No. 21.
The last time the Bulldogs were in the Top 10 was in 2008 after winning the National Championship. The Dogs were No. 1 at the end of the 2008 season.
According to Boyd's World, the Bulldogs have an early RPI of No. 3 with only Florida and Virginia coming in ahead of Fresno State. The Rating Percentage Index or RPI is a quantity used to rank sports teams based upon a team's wins and losses and its strength of schedule.
The Bulldogs are coming off a three-game sweep over Washington State, it's second series sweep over teams from the Pacific-10 conference. The Dogs beat Oregon State twice earlier in the season to have a 5-0 record against Pac-10 schools.
The Bulldogs host Ohio State for two games March 22-23 at 6:05 p.m. at Beiden Field. Later this week, San Diego comes to Fresno for a four-game series March 25-27.
