Soccer Announces Slate of Spring Camps

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's soccer coaches announced the spring line up of camps. Among the camps offered this spring are the ID camp on April 16th, the Young Dogs, Youth Development, and a first ever Youth Goalkeeper Camp on April 18-20th.
The ID Camp is available to 13-18 year old girls, who are interested in playing soccer on the college level and want to experience what coaching sessions are like on the elite NCAA Division I level. The camp costs $50 for 2 sessions and runs from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. or 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. For more info on the ID camp click here .
"This camp will be run just like we run our training sessions," said head coach Brian Zwaschka. "Players who attend this camp will benefit from intense and challenging sessions and will get a real insight into what it means to be a Bulldog soccer player."
The Young Dogs Camp is available to boys and girls ages 4-12 years old. This camp is for young soccer players interested in learning and developing their basic skills in a fun and vibrant environment. The Young Dogs camp runs from 9 a.m. -12 p.m. on April 18-20 and costs $99. There is a high coach to player ratio for lots of 1 to 1 attention. Click here for more info.
"Developing a love of the game is our most important aim in the Young Dogs camps," said assistant coach Kevin Botterill. "We provide a ball centered environment with lots of fun games that provide the opportunities to learn and master the basic skills of soccer."
The Youth Development Camp is targeted towards the more serious soccer player and is focused on giving a thorough grounding in all the basic skills that are required to excel in the game. This camp will introduce some more advanced techniques and the principles of attacking and defending. The Youth Development Camp is available to boys and girls ages 10-14 years old and is April 18-20 from 1 p.m. -4 p.m. and costs $99. For further information click here.
"This camp provides an opportunity for these young players to get a glimpse at the sort of technical and small group exercises that we do on a daily basis with our College team," said Zwaschka on the Youth Development Camp."Good habits learned at this age can be invaluable to a player's future development."
The Youth Goalkeeper Camp is the first goalkeeper specific camp that Fresno State has offered to boys and girls ages 8-14 years old. This is an opportunity for players who are interested in becoming goalkeepers or who have already committed to this position to get goalkeeper specific training from the Fresno State coaching staff. The goalkeeping camp is designed to teach and refine those techniques that are essential to any successful goalkeeper. The camp is April 18-20 from 5 p.m. - 6.30 p.m. and cost of $60. "Goalkeepers are often neglected in the team practice environment, as few teams are lucky enough to have a coach dedicated to them," said Botterill. "This camp will provide all the technical information and lots of repetition for novice goalkeepers, as well as, refining the techniques and developing decision-making in more experienced players."
