Dogs Host Big West Gauchos

FRESNO, Calif. - No. 41 Fresno State (7-8, 0-0 WAC) hosts its final non-conference match of the season against the University of California Santa Barbara Gauchos (7-8, 2-1 Big West) on Sunday, April 3 at noon at the Wathen Tennis Center.
Last Time
Last weekend Fresno State traveled to Albuquerque, N.M. to take on then ranked No. 41 Nebraska and No. 45 New Mexico.
The Dogs earned a huge victory against New Mexico defeating them, 5-2. This was Fresno State's fourth victory over a ranked team this season. The Bulldogs won the doubles point swiftly, and proceeded to win four singles matches in two sets on courts one, three, four and six to bring home the victory.
Fresno State was swept, 7-0, by Nebraska.
National Rankings
In the most recent Campbell/ITA rankings, Fresno State advanced ten spots in the rankings from No. 51, last week, to No. 41. Also advancing in the rankings, doubles team Remi Boutillier and Rikus de Villiers advanced two spots to No. 17. Boutillier is still fighting for his spot in singles and is currently ranked at No. 115.
Taking a Look at UC Santa Barbara
UCSB (7-8) are coming off a 4-2 victory over William and Mary this past Saturday. The Bulldogs lead the all-time record, 16-4 between these two teams. Fresno State has won nine of its last ten matches against UCSB, including a 4-3 victory in 2008 and a 6-1 victory in 2009, the last time these two teams met up.

Come witness a momentous occasion this Sunday as head coach Jay Udwadia will be battling Fresno State's favorite mascot TimeOut between doubles and singles. Fresno State cheer will also make an appearance and throw Fresno State Tennis key chains to the audience.
