No. 20 Dogs Host No. 30 Roadrunners

FRESNO, Calif. - The No. 20 Bulldogs host No. 30 CSU Bakersfield for a midweek game on Tuesday, March 8. The Dogs hit the road for the second-straight weekend for a three-game series against No. 29 Nebraska March 11-13.
Fresno State vs. CSU Bakersfield
The Bulldogs face the Roadrunners for the first time this season on Tuesday night. The Dogs lead the overal series 7-4 over CSU Bakersfield. Fresno State went 3-1 against the Runners last season.
About the Roadrunners
The newly ranked CSU Bakersfield broke into the polls at No. 30 after going 4-0 at the Coca-Cola Classic. The Roadrunners beat No. 10 ASU, Kansas, Air Force and Northern Illinois. The Roadrunners have an overall mark of 11-2. The team is hitting .306 with 30 doubles, five home runs and 82 RBIs. Jeremy Rodriguez is hitting .449 with four doubles, a home run and six RBIs. The pitchers have a team ERA of 1.98 with 86 strikeouts.
Bulldogs Versus Ranked Opponents
This week is the first time the Dogs face a ranked opponent. Both CSU Bakersfield and Nebraska broke into the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll. The Roadrunners are ranked No. 30 and the Huskers are ranked No. 29. The last ranked team the Dogs faced was then No. 25 New Mexico State last season.
Red Hot on the Road
After one road trip in 2011, the Bulldogs are 2-0 on the road after sweeping UC Davis at Dobbins Baseball Complex. Fresno State hits the road this week for a three-game series at University of Nebraska. The Bulldogs were red hot on the road in 2010 and accumulated a record of 17-6 while away from Pete Beiden Field.
Dogs Double the Fun
The Bulldogs hit a total of 10 doubles last weekend against UC Davis. The Dogs recorded six doubles in the first game of the series against the Aggies and have a total of 15 on the season. Aaron Judge, Dusty Robinson and Danny Muno have the most doubles on the team with three each. Austin Wynns and Brennan Gowens are right behind with two doubles apiece.
Ranking the Dogs
Fresno State is ranked in all four major college baseball polls for the week of March 7. The Bulldogs begin the season with national rankings in two of four major college baseball polls. Collegiate Baseball Newspaper has the Dogs ranked No. 20 in their top 30 poll and are No. 23 in Baseball America's poll. Fresno State moved into the USA Today/ESPN poll at No. 22 and is ranked No. in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll.
Super Savings at Beiden Field
Charlie Robertson recorded another saves against UC Davis and has a total of four, which is the most on the team and league. J.D. Salles recorded his first career save against Gonzaga. The single season record for saves is 13 set by Brandon Burke in 2008 and the career record is 24 also by Burke.
Home Field Advantage
Fresno State will play 35 games at Pete Beiden Field in 2011. The Bulldogs are 6-1 at home this season and since 2003 the Dogs have had a winning record at Beiden Field. Under Batesole, the Dogs are 175-100 at home. The best home record in Batesole's tenure came in 2006 when the Bulldogs went 34-1 at Beiden Field.
940 KYNO New Home of Fresno State baseball
Fresno State Athletics announced that it will partner with 940 KYNO in airing the 2011 baseball season. 940 KYNO will be the new home of Bulldog baseball for the next three years. Paul Loeffler will remain the voice of Fresno State baseball. Ray O'Canto will return for his fourth season as the color commentator.
