FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State men's and women's track and field team will host to Cal Poly Mustangs in a duel meet this Saturday March 12 at Warmerdam Field on the Fresno State campus. This will be the only meet of the season hosted at Warmerdam Field and is one of two events hosted in Fresno. The Dogs will also host the Bulldog Invitational in April. Field events on Saturday will kick-off at 11 a.m. and running events will start at 1:30 p.m. Admission is free for all.

CAL OUTDOOR OPENER
The Fresno State men's and women's track and field team participated in its first outdoor event of the season at the Cal Outdoor Opener in Berkeley, Calif. with some strong individual showing Saturday. The meet, at Edwards Stadium on the campus of Cal, featured teams from Cal, Stanford, UC Davis and Cal Poly. In the men's sprints, Cameron Parker had a strong showing, finishing in second in the 100-meter and the 200-meter. On the women's side, Rosario Sanchez won the shot put with a throw of 15.28-meters. Sanchez won the WAC Indoor shot put title last week with a throw of 15-31-meters.
RECAP OF WAC INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Bulldogs finished the WAC Women's Indoor Championships with a sixth place finish, totaling 67 points in Nampa, Idaho. Senior Rosario Sanchez won the shot put on the final day of competition for the first time in her career at the indoor meet. Sanchez finished in second place last season. Freshman Meagan McKee won the weight throw with a toss of 58-11.50, earning her first career individual title in her first WAC meet. Saylah Barserian had an outstanding race in the mile by clocking a time of 4:59.62. The freshman finished in second place for the Dogs. Marrijtje Molenhuis was also a top competitor in the distance event, finishing fourth with a time of 5:02.77. Both distance runners earned points for their team. The Dogs finished the 400-meter race in third, fifth and sixth-place. Breeauna Thompson, who came down with a stomach flu the night before and powered thorugh all her races, finished in third with a time of 56.15. Latrisha Jordan placed fifth with a time of 56.37 and Tiera Hilliard was right behind her in sixth with a time of 56.87. All three Dogs scored crucial points for their team.
SANCHEZ EARNS THIRD AT NM INVITE
The Fresno State indoor woman's track and field team began the season at the University of New Mexico Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. The Bulldogs were led by Rosario Sanchez, who finished third in the shot put with a distance of 15.24 meters. In the 60-meter hurdles, freshman Erin Morris finished sixth with a time of 8.71 and the team of Breeauna Thompson, Tiera Hilliard, Taylor Jackson and Latrisha Jordan finished fourth in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:53.36. Taylor Jackson finished eighth in the triple jump with a distance of 11.80 meters and in the mile run, Saylah Barserian finished ninth with a time of 5:11.21.
OUTDOOR RECAP OF 2010
Last season, the Bulldogs men's outdoor team finished fourth at the WAC Outdoor Championships, and the women's team finished sixth at the WAC. This season, the WAC Outdoor Championships will be held May 10-13 at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu.
