FRESNO, Calif. - No. 44 Fresno State men's tennis team (11-8, 3-0 WAC) shut out Western Athletic Conference opponent Utah State Saturday night at a neutral court site at Moscow, Idaho. In a weekend filled with WAC play, Fresno State left Moscow, Idaho undefeated and ready for another upcoming weekend of WAC play.
The Bulldogs took an early lead over Utah State earning the doubles point. No. 17 doubles team Rikus de Villiers and Remi Boutillier went undefeated in the weekend after defeating Sven Poslusny and Bryan Marchant, 8-2. Jean-Charles Diame and Francis Alcantara clinched the doubles point for the Dogs defeating the Aggies number two doubles team, Fredrick Peterson and Alex Thatcher, 8-6.
In singles, the victories came very quickly for the Dogs. Fresno State earned victories on courts one, two and three clinching the match.
Fresno State returns home in the upcoming weekend to host four WAC teams including, Hawai'i, Nevada, Boise State and New Mexico State. Fresno State will compete against Nevada at noon on Friday April 15, Boise State at 2 p.m. on Saturday April 16, and New Mexico State at 11 a.m. on Sunday April 17.
