Dogs Host Aggies in Final WAC Series

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State baseball team concludes the 2011 Western Athletic Conference schedule at home with a four-game series against New Mexico State May 12-15. The final WAC game of the year for the Dogs will be a make-up of the postponed game against Nevada on May 19 at 6:05 p. m.
Fresno State vs. New Mexico State
Fresno State leads the overall series 23-8. Last year, the Bulldogs swept a four game series on the road against the Aggies. The Dogs have a five-game win streak over New Mexico State heading into the weekend.
About the Aggies
New Mexico State leads the country with a .340 batting average. The Aggies are 32-16 on the season and 7-9 in conference. The Aggies are in fifth place in the WAC standings. The pitching staff has a team ERA of 6.31 and have struck out 303 batters. Dan Reid has the best ERA of the starters at 4.74. Parker Hipp leads the league with a .429 batting average. The sophomore has nine doubles, six home runs and 36 RBIs.
Gonzalez Garners National Attention
Senior Greg Gonzalez has been named College Baseball Foundation's Pitcher of the Year Watch List and to the Golden Spike Watch List. The right-hander is one of 25 players on CBF's watch list and one of 50 on the Golden Spike watch list. Gonzalez leads the team and conference in strikeouts with 96 and has the best ERA in the WAC (1.34).
Senior Farewell
The Bulldogs say good-bye and honor five seniors on Sunday, May 15 before the final game against New Mexico State. The 2011 senior class includes, Greg Gonzalez, Danny Muno, Andy Qualls, Jordan Ribera and Garrett Weber.
Celebrating 20 and 60
The Bulldogs are celebrating the 60 year anniversary of the 1951 team and the 20 year anniversary of the 1991 team on Sunday, May 15. The 1951 team has the best overall record in school history and the 1991 team is one of four teams in school history to play in the College World Series. Also being honored is every Fresno State pitcher who threw a no-hitter.
Sunday's game is a red out everyone that is coming to the game is encouraged to wear Bulldog red. Also at the game one lucky fan will take home a free Fresno State HD television. Signed baseballs will also be given out to fans.
