Patel Wraps Up NCAA Regional

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State men's golfer Bhavik Patel moved up fifteen spots to conclude the NCAA West Regional at The Farms Golf Club tied for 34th place. Patel shot a final round 1-under, 71 to finish at 5-over, 221.

Patel, a junior from Bakersfield, Calif., scattered four birdies over the final day to give him his lowest round of the tournament. The birdies came on the par-4 tenth and 13th and par-5 third and 18th holes.
The top five teams and the top individual not from a top-5 team advance to the NCAA Championships at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Oklahoma, May 31-June 5.
No. 2 UCLA (287-285-282--854) claimed to top team spot at 10-under with No. 15 USC (278-290-289--857) right behind at 7-under. No. 23 San Diego (294-290-280--864, E), No. 26 Ohio State (300-279-286--865, +1) and No. 11 Texas (287-297-289--873, +9) rounded out the top five.
No. 9 Patrick Cantlay from UCLA won medalist honors for the regional as he finished at 13-under, 203 (69-67-67). Middle Tennessee State's Jason Millard earned the lone individual spot to Nationals by finishing tied for fourth place at 5-under, 211 (72-69-70).
