Dogs in the Hunt at WAC Championship

FRESNO, Calif. - With day two of the WAC Championship in the books, the Bulldogs will head into the final day of competition in second place. The Dogs (288-305--593, +17) shot 17-over par and are 9-strokes behind three-time defending champion New Mexico State (289-295--584, +8).
Both Bryan Hogan and Bhavik Patel led the Dogs Tuesday by each firing a 2-over, 74, the fourth best score on the day.
Hogan, a senior from Bakersfield, Calif., was able to hold onto second place at 2-under (68-74--142) and trails Damian Telles of Idaho (66-73--139, -5) by three shots. Hogan sunk back-to-back birdies on the par-5 17th and 18th holes to finish his round. His four birdies on the day matched his Monday total which ties him for the fourth most in the tournament.
Patel moved up 13 spots into a tie for ninth place at 5-over (75-74--149). His two birdies came on the 595-yard 5th and 516-yard 17th, both par-5 holes.
Junior Brian Sunker carded a 6-over, 78 to put him in a tie for seventh at 4-over (70-78--148). Seniors Michael Gideon (75-82--157, +13) and Brad Wyatt (84-79--163, +19) are in 33rd and 42nd place, respectively.
Fresno State returns to action Wednesday for the final round of the WAC Championship held at Rio Secco Golf Club in Henderson, Nev. The Dogs tee off from the first hole starting at 8:40 a.m. The winner of the tournament receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals.
