FRESNO, Calif. - Senior Defensive lineman Logan Harrell was named to the 2011 Roatry Lombardi Watch List as announced by the Rotary Lombardi Award Committee.
Harrell is one of seven Western Athletic Conference linemen to be named to the 2011 watch list. Earlier this month, he was also named to the CFPA Award Watch List, the Outland Trophy Watch List and the Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List.
Last season, Harrell was named National Defensive Player of the Week after Fresno State beat Cincinnati 28-14 in the season opening game in which he had 3.5 sacks.
In 2010, Harrell (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) earned first-team All-WAC honors after recording 46 tackles as one of the nation's best defensive linemen. He was second in the WAC and No. 10 nationally in quarterback sacks with 10.5.
The candidates earned a place on the Official Watch List by earning All-American honors last season, by being named to their respective all-conference first team last season as selected by the conference's head coaches, by being projected to be an All-American or first team all-conference player for the coming season, or by nomination approved by the nominations committee.
Last year's Rotary Lombardi Award winner, Nick Fairley (Auburn), was drafted by the Detroit Lions and Finalist Adrian Clayborn (Iowa) was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, both in the first round of the National Football League draft.
The 42nd Rotary Lombardi Award will be held on December 6-7, 2011 at Reliant Center in Houston, Texas. For more information on the two-day schedule of events and ticket opportunities, please visit www.rotarylombardiaward.org.
