FRESNO, Calif. - Pitcher Greg Gonzalez and outfielder Dusty Robinson earned another round of All-American honors as College Baseball Insider announced its 2011 All-American team. Gonzalez was a first-team selection and Robinson was honorable mention.
Gonzalez and Robinson were also named All-Americans by the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper earlier this summer. Robinson earned his third All-American accolade from the American Baseball Coaches Association. Gonzalez was also named second-team All-West by the ABCA after the 2011 season.
Robinson was named the 2011 WAC Player of the Year. He was taken in the 10th round (316 overall pick) by the Oakland A's. The junior led the conference in home runs with 16 and doubles with 20. Robinson hit .310 with 39 extra base hits. He earned his second All-American accolade along with first-team All-WAC honors in 2011.
Gonzalez earned the WAC's honor for Pitcher of the Year. He was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 15th round as the 473 overall pick. Gonzalez had the best ERA in the league at 1.79 giving up 21 earned runs in 105.1 innings pitched. He also led the WAC in strikeouts with 124. Gonzalez was named a first-team All-American and semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award.
