29 DAYS TIL BULLDOG FOOTBALL:
FRESNO, Calif. - Before the sun came up, the live television trucks and local radio stations pulled up to Bulldog Stadium for the start of Fresno State's annual football media day.
Head coach Pat Hill and some of the Red Wave's favorite Bulldogs - including Derek Carr, Logan Harrell, Robbie Rouse, Travis Brown, Kyle Knox, Phillip Thomas and Kevin Goessling - along with Fresno State cheerleaders and members of the dance team took their turns on the airwaves and in front of the camera.
KMJ, The Blaze (105.1), ESPN Radio and ESPN Deportes broadcast live and taped interviews in the Bulldog Stadium press box while ABC30 and KMPH26 featured live segments on the east side of the stadium.
"It's always good to talk to people," Rouse said. "It's a way for our fans to hear how we much we love playing football and take them inside the huddle."
The Dogs then returned to the practice field for the second day of drills in split and combined sessions of newcomers and veterans before a lunch with the media on campus.
"The guys are working hard and they are anticipating the season just as much as the coaches," Fresno State wide receivers coach Keith Williams said. "It feels good to be back on the field."
After lunch, Hill held his yearly media day press conference and talked about what it will take for the Dogs to be ready to open the season on Sept. 3 against the California Golden Bears at Candlestick Park.
"I feel really good about the way the team came back after their summer break," Hill said. "Every year, every team is different. We have some guys that have different skills then the past. It is up to us as a coaching staff to put them in a position to win."
The Bulldogs also met individually with the media in an afternoon session.
"Whenever you can talk about your teammates and brothers is always good," Williams added.
Season tickets are available now for the Bulldogs' six home games, which includes Ole Miss, the first SEC opponent to visit Bulldog Stadium. For season ticket information, call 278-DOGS or click on the Tickets link at www.gobulldogs.com.
