FRESNO, Calif. - The No. 14 Fresno State men's tennis team continued its winning streak against Idaho on Monday night with a 6-1 win at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center. The `Dogs are now 2-0 in the Western Athletic Conference.
The Bulldogs (11-1, 2-0 WAC) earned the doubles point over the Vandals (8-7, 1-2 WAC) with wins from the No. 1 and 3 teams. Senior Remi Boutillier and sophomore Francis Alcantara defeated Jose Bendeck and Cristobal Ramos Salazar, 8-2, at the No. 1 spot. The No. 3 doubles team of freshmen Reid DeLaubenfels and Sai Kartik Nakireddi clinched the point for the `Dogs beating Jake Knox and Filip Fichtel, 8-5.
The `Dogs gained more momentum in singles play with victories from No. 17 Boutillier, No. 52 Alcantara, David Ayoun, Jean-Charles Diame and deLaubenfels.
The `Dogs return to courts Tuesday when they face-off against Oregon at 5 p.m. at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center.
