Fresno State Game Notes
RIVAL HISTORY IN A NUTSHELL
UC Riverside is a member of the Big West Conference. This is the first meeting of the two programs and Fresno State has split competition with Big West opponents this season already.
HIGHLIGHTS ON THE HIGHLANDERS
In his ninth season with UC Riverside, head coach Doug Smith and the Highlanders have a 6-9 record. The team is 2-5 on the road this year and have not competed since March 9-11 when they took a series from Sacramento State, 2-1. Junior Eddie Young leads the team with a .373 batting average, but fellow junior Phil Holinsworth is the Highlanders slugger. He leads the team with three triples, two home runs and has two doubles this year. The primary starters on the mound for UC Riverside are senior RHP Eddie Orozco, junior RHP Trevor Frank and sophomore LHP Dylan Stuart. Orozco leads the team with a 1.65 ERA and 29 strikeouts.
1,000 AND COUNTING...
Mike Batesole coached his 1,000th career NCAA Division I game on Wednesday, March 21. The Bulldogs defeated Kent State 5-2.
GONE STREAKING
Fresno State is riding a five game win streak into this weekend. The offense has been on fire over the stretch, leading opponents in hits (50-41), walks (17-11) and stolen bases (7-1). The 'Dogs have also outscored opponents 29-7.
IT'S KIND OF A BIG DEAL
With a 596-403-1 overall record, head coach Mike Batesole is just four wins away from reaching 600 for his career. He has amassed over 300 wins at Fresno State in nine seasons at the helm and is 169-102 overall in Western Athletic Conference play.
