U.S. Intercollegiate Up Next for 'Dogs

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State men's golf team will travel to the Bay Area to compete March 30 - April 1 in the U.S. Intercollegiate hosted by Stanford. The tournament, held at the 6,727-yard, par-70 Stanford Golf Course, was last played in 2010. The 'Dogs participated in that tournament and Oregon claimed the team title at 1-under while Daniel Miernicki of Oregon took home the individual title with an 8-under par.

Bulldogs Fall in Championship Round
After winning the first two rounds 5-0 over Utah State and 3.5-1.5 over Claremont to advance to the championship round, the Fresno State men's golf team lost to Seattle 3-2 at the Lamkin Grip Cal Poly Match Play Challenge. Brian Sunker did not lose a round all tournament, winning 3&2 and 1-up the first and third rounds and halving the second.
Mulroy Wins WAC Golfer of the Week
Jack Mulroy, a junior from London, England, shot a 69 in his second round at the Fresno State Lexus Classic to help him finish in a tie for 37th with a 7-over, 223. The 69 was the best round for Mulroy this season who is in his first year with the Bulldogs. It is the first time that Mulroy has won a WAC golfer of the week or month award.
Success On and Off the Greens
Along with his success on the golf course last year, senior Brian Sunker also excelled in the classroom which led to him being named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar. To be eligible for the honor, a student-athlete must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least two full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70-percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships and have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I.
