FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State's men's tennis reached No. 14 in the ITA national poll that was released on Wednesday. This is the highest spot the `Dogs have reached in the polls since 2000 when the team was ranked No. 12.
The team moved two spots from last week's ranking of No. 16 and has jumped 19 spots in the last two weeks. The catalyst for the big moves was the Bulldogs' upset over No. 9 Stanford on Feb. 14. The `Dogs continued their nine-match winning streak last Thursday when they defeated No. 42 San Diego State, which helped the team move to No. 14.
It has been 12 years since the Bulldogs have been ranked this high.
The team ranking was accompanied by two individual singles rankings on the team. Senior Remi Boutillier moved two spots from his previous ranking to No. 17 and sophomore Francis Alcantara was ranked No. 52 in the country. The Fresno State's women's team was also ranked No. 43 in the country.
The `Dogs look to maintain their winning streak at home against Wisconsin on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center.
