Final Test Before WAC Championship

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State men's golf team will wrap up their regular season at the Winchester Classic on April 20-22. The tournament, held at the 7,144-yard, par-72 Winchester Golf Course, is co-hosted by UC Davis and Nevada. The teams will play 18 holes each day with tee times started at noon on Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. This is the Bulldogs' final tournament until they compete in the WAC Championship to compete for an automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals.

Bulldogs Take 15th at U.S. Intercollegiate
The men's golf team wrapped up the U.S. Intercollegiate in 15th place and carded a final round 30-over par to finish at 63-over (285-308-310--903). Junior Rufie Fessler finished in the top spot for the `Dogs by tying for 14th at 4-over (65-77-72--214). Fessler held the lead through the first round after firing a tournament-low 5-under, 65.
Fessler Earns WAC Honor
Rufie Fessler, a junior from Bakersfield, Calif. (Bakersfield College), was named WAC Golfer of the Week for the week of March 26-April 1. Fessler finished in a tie for 14th at the U.S. Intercollegiate. He opened the tournament with a 5-under par 65 to become the first round leader. Fessler finished with a 4-over par 214 (65-77-72). The 65 was the best of any golfer in the tournament during the three rounds and is tied for the fifth lowest round by a WAC golfer this year. It is the first time that Fessler has won a WAC golfer of the week or month award.
Mulroy Wins WAC Golfer of the Week
Jack Mulroy, a junior from London, England, was awarded the WAC Golfer of the Week for the week of March 5-11. Mulroy shot a 69 in his second round at the Fresno State Lexus Classic to help him finish in a tie for 37th with a 7-over, 223. The 69 was the best round for Mulroy this season who is in his first year with the Bulldogs. It is the first time that Mulroy has won a WAC golfer of the week or month award.
