MESA, Ariz. --- When the calendar turns over to May, the pulsating veins of the Fresno State baseball team start beating together at a critical time.
Great teams play their best baseball when the pressure elevates.
Since 2006, head coach Mike Batesole and the Bulldogs are 81-30 during the month of May.
This season, the 'Dogs are 8-3 in May games which is the program's best record for the crucial month since the team went 10-3 in 2007 and 13-0 in 2006.
The run will be tested again tonight when fifth-seeded Fresno State, who defeated No. 4 seed Hawai'i on Wednesday 8-2, plays top-seeded and tri-conference regular season champion New Mexico State in the 7 p.m. PT nightcap at HoHoKam Stadium.
The game can be heard live on AM 940 KYNO.
Fresno State (26-25) took two of three from New Mexico State (35-20) when the teams met during the regular season in Las Cruces, N.M. on May 11 for a doubleheader and May 12 to wrap up the series.
