STANFORD, Calif. --- The Fresno State baseball team took a trip over to Klein Field at Sunken Diamond for a lively 75-minute practice to get adjusted to life on the Farm.
The Bulldogs enter their 34th NCAA Tournament on a tear as winners in 12 of the last 16 games and face the No. 11-ranked Stanford Cardinal on Friday night at 6 p.m. PT. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN3 and AM 940 KYNO.
Fresno State (30-26) won the 2012 WAC Tournament to earn the automatic bid to this weekend's NCAA Stanford Regional, but know they will need to keep focusing on each pitch in order to keep extending the season for a team that has already survived three elimination games.
At Thursday's practice, the Bulldogs stuck to their routine in taking defense, getting in some pitching work and stroking balls all over the park during batting practice.
Klein Field at Sunken Diamond is a unique college baseball facility that was built back in 1931. The Bermuda Rye Blend is mowed to one inch and the dirt is a mixture of decomposed granite and clay fines.
The most notable feeling is the sunken nature of the field itself from any of the 2,100 chair back seats. The listed capacity is set at 4,000 through the use of grass berms (general admission) down both the right and left field line.
This is the Bulldogs fourth appearance in an NCAA Baseball Regional at Stanford and first since 2000.
For the 'Dogs, this weekend is another opportunity to play the game that they love.
Fresno State fans can start buying single game tickets at 9 a.m. PT on Friday morning at www.gostanford.com or by calling 1-800-STANFORD. The designated Fresno State fan sections for Friday's game against the Cardinal are Sections 10 and 11.
