Fresno State won the toss, deferred to the second half. The Bulldogs will defend the south goal.
1st Quarter
Fresno State's first offensive drive of the game started at the USC 33-yard line after a kick-catch interference penalty on the Trojans when they attempted an onsides kick.
Derek Carr hit Isaiah Burse on an eight-yard touchdown pass on Fresno State's third offensive play of the game. The point after attempt was blocked.
This is Carr's 33rd-straight game with a touchdown pass, which is the longest active streak in the FBS.
Fresno State did not attempt a rush in the first quarter.
2nd Quarter
Fresno State's first rushing attempt of the game came in the first minute of the second quarter on the Bulldogs' 17th play of the game. Marteze Waller picked up seven yards on a third-and-10 from the USC 42-yard line.
Aaron Peck's six-yard catch on a third-and-four inside the six-minute mart was Fresno State's first third-down conversion of the game. The 'Dogs failed on their first five third-down attempts of the game.
Isaiah Burse's 14-yard catch at 5:03 put him over 1,000 yards receiving on the season. Fresno State becomes the fifth team in FBS history to have three receivers to go over 1,000 yards receiving in a single-season.
Garrett Swanson's 69-yard punt in the final seconds of the half was the longest of his career, the longest by a Bulldog in a bowl game and the longest in the history of the Las Vegas Bowl.
3rd Quarter
Karl Mickelsen recovered a fumble on a muffed punt at 13:36. That was the first turnover of the game by either team.
Aaron Pecks eight-yard catch 12 12:20 was his sixth of the game, setting a new career-high for the sophomore.
Derek Carr on a 23-yards touchdown pass to Davante Adams at 11:42 became the fourth quarterback in FBS history to throw for over 5,000 yards in a season and have 50 touchdown passes.
Adams' touchdown catch was his 24th of the season.
Davante Adams catch at 1:28 was his second of the game and 129th of the season, setting a new Mountain West single-season record.
Fresno State set a new school and Mountain West records for total offensive yardage in a season. The old record Fresno State record was 7,022 yards that was set in 2001.
4th Quarter
Derron Smith intercepted his seventh pass of the season and returned it 41 yards for a touchdown, his second career pick-six.
Fresno State also set a new program record for points scored in a year. The old record was 560 points that the 2001 squad set.
