Jessup Takes Lead to Finish in Top-Ten

COSTA MESA, Calif. -- Senior Nate Jessup seized the lead among the Bulldogs to finish the UCI Anteater Invitational in a tie for seventh place.
After firing his lowest round of the tournament, 69, Jessup moved ten positions up on the leaderboard. Jessup began day-two in a tie for 17th place.
On the tournament Jessup shot four-over par (74-74-69--217) and made ten birdies. "I am very happy for Nate," head coach Chad Spencer said. "He had a solid day and a nice finish!"
Troix Tonkham and Neil Bautista trailed Jessup and finished the tournament in the top-20. Tonkham (72-76-74--222) fired nine-over par and made six birdies. Bautista (75-71-77--223) carded ten-over par and also made six birdies.
The Bulldogs finished the tournament in seventh place at 40-over par, 892 (302-295-295).
Long Beach State took home the team title at 17-over par, 869 (289-286-294) and Pete Fernandez of UCI took home the individual title at three-under par, 210 (67-72-71).
The Bulldogs next competition begins on Feb. 10-11 in San Diego, Calif. at the Farms Collegiate Invitational.
