BOISE, Idaho. - The Bulldog women's soccer team fell to Boise State Friday evening at the Boas Soccer Complex in Boise, Idaho. Friday's match was the 16th time Fresno State competed against the Broncos resulting in a 7-7-2 all-time series record with four wins at home and three on the road.
After a scoreless first half, the Broncos were the first on the board with an own goal and taking a 1-0 lead 11 minutes into the second half.
In the 82nd minute of the game, Fresno State received the second own goal of the game after a throw-in deflected off of Boise State defender Hailey DeVries, tying the match 1-1.
"We played a tough game against a quality opponent and came up short in the end," head coach Brian Zwaschka said. "We did everything right in the second half to get back in the game and try to steal the win."
The matchup between Boise and Fresno State came down to the final seconds of the game when Bronco forward Kelli Drobney scored the game-winning goal with only 14 seconds left on the clock.
"I am very proud of the team for digging deep and working to come back," Zwaschka added. "If we had more time I'm certain we could have done it again. Now we have to focus on Sunday and make sure we really concentrate on our recovery and being prepared for another tough opponent. We will look forward to that."
