'Dogs to Host Inagural Red Wave Run Homecoming Weekend

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State track and field program is excited to announce their partnership in the first annual Red Wave Run this fall.
ABOUT THE EVENT
Location: Bulldog Stadium at Fresno State
1600 Bulldog Lane, Fresno, CA 93740
Time: 7:15am - 5k starts 8:00am - Kids Race starts
Distances:
5k Run: This is a chip-timed event which will start on Cedar Avenue, winding its way through the Fresno State Campus, and finishing with a run onto Jim Sweeney Field in Bulldog Stadium.
Kids Run: Open to children up to age 12, and takes place on Jim Sweeney Field in Bulldog Stadium.
Ages 8 and under will run 1/4 mile, and ages 9-12 run 1/2 mile.
Registration Fees:
5k Run: Current Student (student ID required at packet pickup) - $15
Fresno State Community (alumni, faculty, staff - ID required at packet pick up) - $25
General Admission - $35
Kids Run: $15
*All registration fees increase $5 on race day
* Event takes place rain or shine
"We are very excited to be working with Aaron Samansky and the Sierra Running Club on the inaugural Red Wave 5K Run," said head Track and Field coach Scott Winsor. "I know that this event will be a great way to conclude the Homecoming weekend, because the course showcases our beautiful campus."
In addition to running the 5k through campus, registered finishers will receive a custom event t-shirt, a finishers medal for all Kids Race participants, age-group awards for 5k participants and a delicious post-race breakfast.
"I'm not sure you can have a better, more exciting atmosphere than finishing inside the Fresno State Football Stadium," said Winsor. After running through campus the race ends by running down the ramp, into the football stadium and onto the football field."
The Dogs have partnered up with Sierra Running Company for this event. Former Bulldog runner and owner of Sierra Running Company, Adam Samansky is honored to assist in this event. Samanksy also holds the No. 3 best 800-meter time on the Fresno State Men's Track and Field all-time list.
"Sierra Running Company is excited to help get more people on Fresno State's campus during homecoming weekend with the Red Wave Run," said Samansky. "This one of a kind running event will attract Bulldog fans from across the Valley who want a chance to finish on the 50 yard line at Bulldog Stadium. As a former Fresno State Track athlete, I am honored to work with everyone at Fresno State and look forward to giving back to the program!"
A portion of these proceeds will go to the Fresno State Track and Field Program to help build a new track.
The Red Wave Run will cap a busy homecoming weekend that also includes women's equestrian competing at home on Friday, November 7th. On Saturday, November 8th the women's volleyball team competes against Wyoming and later on that night the football team takes on San Jose State. Following the Red Run 5k, men's basketball plays against UC Santa Cruz and immediately following that game the women's basketball team takes on Notre Dame De Namur.
